Ever run for office? (School, club, organization, politics, etc.) Did you get elected?
I ran for Mayor of Los Angeles in 1992.
I was living in Venice Beach (part of Los Angeles) and thought the Mayor's mansion in Hancock Park would be key to picking up women. I filled out the forms, submitted them at City Hall. I named my brother Matt as my campaign chair, even though he was in North Carolina at the time.
The next day I got calls from reporters from all over.
I needed to get 1,000 signatures to get my name on the ballot. Fortunately I met Michele (my future wife at the time) and decided that spending time with her was more fun than getting signatures on paper.
So I never made it on the ballot. But I did find a wife. I think I made the right call.
Okay, we hate to ask, but... over the roll or under the roll?
If you came with a warning label, what would it say?

Danger: Will argue with you
What's your middle name? Is there a story or history behind it?
August
The tradition in my father's family was to name the first son after the father and use the name of the grandfather as the middle name for other sons.
My parents didn't name me after my father, but they did give me my grandfather's first name as my middle name. My grandfather's first name was August, do that is my middle name.
What's your favorite way to keep in touch? Phone, snail mail, email, text message, Vox, _____ ?
Call me on the phone if you want to get a hold of me.
IM probably next, but you never know if I'm at my desk.
Email is by far the worst way. I get so much email that it's likely I take 24+ hours to get back to you.
What was (or is) your favorite subject in school?
Physics.
Physics describes the way the world works. Nothing is more fascinating than that.
What albums are in heavy rotation for you right now?
Cake - Motorcade of Generosity
Johnny Cash - At Folsom Prison
Rilo Kiley - More Adventurous
What magazines do you subscribe to, and why?
Wired - Still interesting to read after all these years, especially since the batshit-crazy-dayglo design is toned down.
PC Gamer - What can I say, I'm a PC gamer and this magazine is best in the genre. Greg Vederman is now the EiC and driving the magazine in the right direction. Of course, I still miss PC Accelerator, the best gaming magazine EVAR!
Maximum PC - Lot's of tips and tricks about building and upgrading PCs. Homebuilt PCs are like hot rods, you want to read up on the latest trends and see all the ads for cool stuff.
That's all that I actually subscribe to regularly. I will mention Scientific American, which I purchase at the airport before any flight. With the amount of travel I do, that means I'm reading every issue. I suppose I could save some money by subscribing, but a man's gotta have some rituals in his life...
Do you have any tattoos? If not, if you were going to get inked, what would you get?
I have my wife's signature tattooed on my chest, over my heart.
We had it done after dinner on one of our anniversaries.
Sorry, no picture. :)
